Travis Fitzgold – Pastor
It is an honor and blessing to tend to the faith development of Good Shepherd Lutheran School.
Working with kids helps tap my creative gifts for song, prayer, and story.
I am an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I attended Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California. I have an undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Texas at Austin, and am originally from Corpus Christi. Some of my hobbies include music, tennis, reading, and practicing aikido. I lived for about two years in a monastery in my 20’s in order to discern if God was calling me to be a monk. I also explored a wide variety of faith traditions in my own spiritual journey, including Unitarian Universalist, Zen Buddhist, and Catholic, before landing firmly in the Lutheran Christian tradition. Because of this broad background, I can connect with people with different perspectives and from different life circumstances as well.
I have been married since 2016 to Katy Fitzgold, and our daughter, Sage Eden, was born in 2018. Family life is one of the most important contexts in which faith is lived out, and my family life is no exception. It is an honor and blessing to commit to these people, in this time, and this place. If you want to schedule time for spiritual guidance with yourself and/or your family, please reach out! I don’t have all the answers, but I know God is with us in each step of the journey, whether the highest of highs or lowest of lows.
In the peace of Christ,
